About

Thomas Osborne, MD

My earliest childhood memories are from when my family lived on a farm in upstate NY.  From that point on, I have been fascinated with plants.  My early understanding of botany became the foundation upon which I later learned other fields of science.  In medical school, residency, and fellowship, my passion for plants was temporarily neglected as my classmates and I tried to optimized every hour to become the best doctors possible.

Now that I have finally completed my medical training, the time demands haven’t seemed to slow down much.  However, I am working to find balance, and one of the best place for me to do that is in the garden.

In the process of transforming the landscape of our home, I created a website that was initially intended to be a personal reference for my gardening experiments and experiences.  To my delight, this website (TastyLandscape.com) has become a global forum for shared knowledge about growing plants for food.  Unless noted otherwise, the photos on this site are of the plants in my yard.

Thank you,

Thomas Osborne, MD

  1. I am so glad you joined my LinkedIn group – Grow Girls Grow. I love your site. I love the clarity of your advice and I admire your courage — euphorbia is a bit too scary for me but I’m East coast so it probably isn’t going to be necessary….anyway! Please check out my organic gardening web site – http://growsoeasyorganic.com. I am getting ready to put my book of the same name on Kindle (next month I hope) and I’m so excited about it but could use any feedback you have! Enjoy this beautiful day.
